Eric Zachary Ryder
Eric’s beautiful illuminated landscapes utilize a limited palette available in the near-infrared light spectrum. The dream-like quality of the resulting image never fails to produce a visceral reaction in the viewer.
These compelling works are highly collectible, appealing to lovers of both black and white and color mediums. Yet, his unique imagery should not be confused with colorized black and white photography— no computer-generated color is added. Rather, Eric uses specialized techniques to coax out what is termed “false color” present within the original image. Utilizing high-end cameras specially modified for working only within the near-infrared band of light, he’s able to capture what the human eye is unable to see. Each image is different in the degree and depth of color available, based largely on the quality of light in the sky at the moment it's captured. Processing the image is a time-intensive process, but the results are well worth the effort.
